Sklonište za životinje – Privlaka

Privlaka Animal Shelter is a legal shelter in the Zadar County. At the call of the municipal wardens, we go out to the field to take care of the abandoned dog. If the dog has a chip and we can locate the owners, we return them to them, otherwise we adopt them in accordance with the law, and until the adoption we take care of them and socialize them.

Currently, the two of us are employed in the shelter itself with a veterinary team that takes care of chipping, castration / sterilization, vaccines and dog health in general. The shelter has been in existence for six years, but few people know about us, because due to the large scope of work in obligations to dogs – the visibility of the shelter is only now becoming one of the priority points in the work of the shelter.

We are most often visited by tourists and people who found out about our shelter through social networks, and are interested in adopting a dog. We offer foster care services for socialized dogs, temporary foster care, dog walks and counseling in the form of relationships with their existing pets. We are currently building a base of volunteers, who would help in the field where we need the most help, and that is contact with people for their more successful socialization.

The work as such is extremely difficult, but fulfilling, because our dogs appreciate our efforts, which is mostly seen after fostering in their new homes, because the feedback from new owners is always positive and full of praise.
